Introduction
Konkuk University (KU) Department of Technology Fusion Engineering(DTFE) is the successor of Department of Advanced Technology Fusion(DATF) which was founded in 2003 as Korea's first interdisciplinary program combining ET (environment technology), BT (biotechnology), IT (information technology), and NT (nanotechnology). The department has been working on the development of new added-value producing technologies integration through a synergetic partnership with new and other technology fields while operating as an independent department.
The department is offering graduate level education-master's and Ph.D. courses- in Engineering and linked together with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering undergraduate program at KU College of Engineering. In 2021, the department reorganized its academic majors into the areas of Geospatial Informatics(GI), Integrated Climate and AIr Quality(ICA), and Intelligent Bio Technology(IBT) in order to specialize its research for the extensive field of specialized engineering and technology integration. Our department runs practical, advanced courses to educate high-standard technology integration specialists and academic graduates in focused areas of GU, ICA, and IBT. Courses that connect education, research, industry and academia are offered, including seminar-style participatory classes involving professors and students from various major programs, research linked to large-scale national projects, and exchanges with industry professionals.
