Why Konkuk?
Prepare for Your Future
Established in 1931, Konkuk University (KU) is one of South Korea’s leading private universities, often recognized among the top 10 of the country’s 370 higher education institutions. KU has two campuses—the main campus in Seoul and the GLOCAL campus in Chungju—with 22,700 undergraduate and 2,200 graduate students. The university is particularly known for its art and design, biomedicine, bioscience, business administration, and real estate studies departments, with more than 160 courses that are conducted in English each semester. With some of the nation’s top academic programs and distinguished professors, KU will help you achieve your goals.
Student Life in a Vibrant City
Konkuk’s main campus is located in the heart of Seoul, the capital of South Korea. It is just steps away from the Konkuk University subway station, which has two lines—Line 2 (green) and Line 7 (olive). Line 2 circulates downtown Seoul and provides easy access to the majority of the city, all within one hour. A large shopping mall with Lotte Department Store, multiplex, and hundreds of cafes and restaurants is also located near the campus. Students can leisurely walk to the Han River Park for a swim, bike and picnics.
Safe and Friendly Campus
Seoul is already a safe city by global standards, yet the entire Konkuk community is especially safe thanks to the dedication of campus policemen, security guards as well as student volunteers. For emergencies, 15 call boxes are strategically located to provide direct lines to the campus police 24 hours a day. KU is also a diverse, multicultural institution with the Office of International Programs offering customized services to foreign students. Through our volunteer program, current KU students also assist foreign students in settling down.
Global Partnerships
As of December 23, 2020, Konkuk University has a network of 649 partner universities in 69 countries around the world. Through agreements, an increasing number of dual-degree programs, exchange programs, language courses, and short-term programs are becoming available to both KU and foreign students. Every year, more than 900 Konkuk students go abroad while about 2,000 international students come to study at Konkuk.
