Welcome to the website of the College of Veterinary Medicine at KU!
The College of Veterinary Medicine at KU aims to provide the best veterinary education, research, and practice that the public trusts and its members are proud of. We seek to educate leading veterinarians who will protect the health of animals, people, and the environment based on the value of respect for life. Modern global society is based on One Health, in which animal, human, and human-animal health are inseparable and can be regarded as one interconnected ecosystem. More than 60% of infectious diseases that can affect humans are known as zoonotic diseases, which originate from animals. Therefore, veterinarians play an essential role in the health of humanity, which is why we are developing competent veterinarians to play a pivotal role.
The College of Veterinary Medicine at KU is recognized as one of the leading universities in Korea for training veterinarians to protect the health of animals and humans. We were the first veterinary college in Korea to receive the 1st cycle 5-year accreditation from the Korea Veterinary Education Accreditation Agency, and we are committed to achieving the 2nd cycle accreditation. We are reorganizing our curriculum and expanding classes to strengthen our clinical training capabilities. To produce veterinarians with the most outstanding small and large animal clinical skills in Korea, we are closely collaborating with major veterinary hospitals on and off campus and systematically conducting theoretical education and clinical practice. In addition, to train veterinarians with primary research and diagnostic skills, we conduct in-depth practical training programs in basic, preventive, and clinical research laboratories.
The ultimate goal of our education is to train students to become veterinarians with one-day skills. Through systematic and in-depth theoretical education and extensiver practical training, our students can effectively perform their roles as veterinarians from the day they obtain their veterinary license. The college has traditionally maintained a very high pass rate for the national veterinary examination. Upon graduation, our graduates have gone on to diverse careers in academia, clinical practice, epidemiology, research, public service, zoos, aquariums, companies, and international organizations. They play key roles in each of these fields.
The College of Veterinary Medicine at KU will strive to become a unique and prestigious private university that educates veterinarians who will be responsible for the 21st century.
Thank you.
