The Department of Korean Language and Literature at Konkuk University aims to continue supporting traditional Korean culture. In particular, we aim to cultivate creative talents by instilling a creative and accepting attitude toward the Korean language and culture by providing students with comprehensive knowledge and an in-depth understanding of Korean linguistics and classical and contemporary Korean literature..
To achieve this, we provide curricular that help to study the development and structure of the Korean language scientifically and make them able to appreciate and offer their critique on classical and modern literature. Students will also will learn to analyze the influential relationship between Korean and foreign literatures, languages, and cultures and to examine Korea’s unique national characteristics. In addition, in order to meet the expectations of future-oriented educational performance and cultural creation, we cultivate talented people with professional knowledge of the Korean language and Korean literature. We secure excellent faculty members, strengthen research activities in each field of study, specialize in teaching, and make the most of the comprehensive nature of the Korean language and literature to provide a comprehensive education. Education Objectives
The KU Department of Korean Language and Literature provides systematic and professional understanding and research of Korean language and literature. We conduct broad and in-depth research, analysis, and discussion on the subject, environment, and texts of the major areas of Korean language and literature. In this way, students can verify the identity and universality of national cultures, explore the existence and usefulness of national languages and national literature, and explore ways to develop them. We aim to cultivate creative humanistic leaders who can lead the creation of an advanced future culture.
