Introduction
The Department of Advanced Intermediary Medicine provides basic biomedical science education that integrates various fields of medical science. In particular, we aim to cultivate creative talents to meet the needs of the field by acquiring broader knowledge and strengthening research capabilities through field-oriented translational research education. The department has newly established the Stem Cell Intermediary Medicine Major and the Advanced Intermediary Medicine Major, which specialize in interventional medicine. The Department of Advanced Intermediary Medicine was westablished to provide new training separate from the Department of Medicine.
The department has an optimal research infrastructure for medical science research, centered in the Biomedical Science Bldg and connected to KU Hospital, the Biomedical Research Center, the College of Life and Environment, the College of Animal and Life Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Experimental Animal Research Center.
We aim to grow into a mecca for translational research that encompasses basic and clinical research through KU's Graduate School of Medicine. We will build an integrated translational research system that includes industry, universities, research institutes, government organizations, and hospitals, including leading domestic stem cell and new drug development companies, KU's BioCluster, and the Korea Food and Drug Administration. In addition, by attracting translational research and investment to the campus, we will become a hub graduate school for translational research domestically and internationally.
