Konkuk University Campus Town Project Group opened the ‘StarCity Start-up Zone’ to support entrepreneurs in the Bio, Food sector
‘StarCity Start-up Zone’ is a start-up support facility, located near the Konkuk University station.
The facility is the result of a joint effort between the Konkuk University Foundation (space provider) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government (funding).
Konkuk University Campus Town Project Group will utilize the zone to provide support to Bio-related businesses.
The facility covers 436^m2 with 10 individual offices, 1 shared office, and a shared kitchen, where food businesses can produce and test their prototypes.
All 10 individual offices are already booked with 10 teams and 7 teams will share the kitchen facility.
The opening ceremony on the 26th of July, as a part of 'StarCity Start-up Zone Networking Day’ gathered around 60 guests including the President of Konkuk University, Young Jae Jeon, the Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Kyung Ho Kim and others.
President Jeon said, "Campus town project is important, not only vitalizing Konkuk and Gwangjin's young entrepreneurs’ start-up but also contributing to the local community.” And added “I hope the combined effort among Konkuk University, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Gwangjin-gu, can serve as the venue where the young entrepreneurs’’ dreams come true.” During the congratulatory speech.
The companies introduced and served their products while briefing their vision and products. Among them, three were established by Konkuk students: ‘푸로운', ‘도시곳간', and ‘위미트’.
Konkuk University is actively supporting student startups through the government-funded startup support program. The campus town project is a joint effort among the Seoul Metropolitan Government, local universities and a self-autonomous entity. Konkuk University and Gwangjin-gu won 6,000,000,000 KRW funding for the project over the 4 years from 2022 to 2025.
